We specialize in teaching K-7th grade students in all subjects which includes reading, writing, math, and homework help. Ann Marie Lockamy was born and raised in Long Beach, CA where she graduated from the PACE program at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. She went on to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a minor in Education from University of California, Davis. Thereafter, she received her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Los Angeles. Her entire childhood and desire to become a teacher was influenced by the work of her mother who had a lifetime credential and was an educator for 40+ years, Ann Marie's long resume of work experience teaching children of all ages in both academics and sports, led her to pursue a career in teaching and the opening up of 2 different locations for her tutoring business.
After receiving her teaching credential, she began working at Lindamood-Bell® as a Clinician and quickly excelled in the programs. She spent 3 years as a Consultant, helping students overcome their weaknesses and achieve personal and academic success. She combines her education and work experience with a variety of approaches such as the Lindamood-Bell Seeing Stars®, Visualizing & Verbalizing®, Talkies®, and On Cloud Nine® programs; Project Based Learning (PBL); Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Lessons (POGIL); Common Core; and various technology-based education programs.
Her mission is to assist students who are in need of intervention, curriculum support (tutoring), homework assistance, test preparation, and compensatory strategies. She uses a variety of programs and techniques to determine the best learning environment for each student and to enhance his/her love of learning. Working with students of all ages has always been her passion and she brings an energy, empathy, and knowledge when teaching to help students reach their potential and achieve academic success.
